Four Questions

December 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

  • 1) What was the worst NERFL moment of the year? Why?

Pop’s Puppies  –  apparently getting screwed by Andrew yet again as my fellow competitors have so graciously pointed out today. thank you andrew for being soooooo smart that you make dumb look better than bush JR.

who knew that one little mistake would have such ramifications
Are you listening protest queen???????????????????????????

Carlos  –  Trading away Jonathan Stewart -n- Nate Burleson for TJ “I”m a Bust” Houshmanzadeh that trade killed whatever depth i had on my roster. It depleted mt team’s value..

Cardiac Kids  –  Going 2-4 down the stretch and realizing that the Cardiac Kids had officially become the Charlie Weis’ of NERFL. We blame that crappy WR from New Orleans, The sucky Marques Colston!

  • 2) What was the best NERFL moment of the year? Why?

Pop’s Puppies  –  beating Doug what else is there

Carlos  –  The TRADE Of The DECADE.. Trading away Clinton “IR” Portis and Ocho Cinco for Thomas ” The Train” Jones and Steve ” The Real Deal” Smith. That trade simply took my team in a new direction, and it made our team a serious contender for the Nerfl Championship. Just look for yourself.. I’m in the Championship Game This weekend.

Cardiac Kids  –  At one point in time we were 6-2 and things were looking good. That was the best moment of the season. Look at answer #1 for the rest of the answer.

  • 3) Which NERFL Owner deserves the 2009 Coach/Owner of the Year award? Why?

Pop’s Puppies  –  judging by the number of transactions from the draft to now i’d say the general if for no other reason than the doggie bites played the season or much of it without more than half their original draft:

draft:        edwards, moore, royal, williams, daniels, titans d
now:         sims-walker, celek, winslow, walters, bess, ravens d
injured first half of year:    tomlinson
injured second half of year: turner
best pick of the draft : steve smith nyg 1 point
best pickup of the draft: rickie williams mia rb
to go 8-6 and lose by 5 in the playoffs i think ought to be worth something so i’ll vote for me.  doing the most with the least. maybe next year we’ll look for proven studs [oh wait that was turner and tomlinson]

Carlos  –  POP’s. After the draft.. I was scratching my head in total disbelief. He had a rough draft. But throughout the season Pop’s made some key moves and landed some marque free agents to make his team a serious threat in Nerfl. I take my hat off to Pop’s for a Remarkable season, and wish him all the best this weekend in his match-up with the Powerhouse Players from Jersey.

Cardiac Kids  –  Carlos because he made key trades and free agent moves to move his team from barely contending to the NERFL Championship. The two trades he made (because he was reasonable in his request) were critical to his success. Honorable mention; The DC Nukes. They were 1-3 to start the season and went on a NERFL record nine game win streak!

  • 4)  Which team will win the NERFL Championship; (# 1) West Hartford Trees or (# 6) Carlos? Why?

Pop’s Puppies  –  the team that has the least players on the following teams:

colts, saints, cards, bengals, patriots [although belicheck doesn't ascribe [andrew is this too big a word for you] to the theory of resting players, and the f…..g g-men who have been at rest for the past 11 weeks
that said i’ll take my good friend carlos in a very big upset, why i have no idea other than i never root for the favorite

Carlos  –  CARLOS..CARLOS..CARLOS.. The Third time is a Charm Baby.. Sujal you beat me twice this season, and now its time for payback..

The Final Stop on MY Tour> PayBack Is A BIo**.. Matches me up against my NERFL Rival.. The previous 2 years we met in the 3rd place game and we split them1-1, both times each game was decided by a mere point. This time we meet For Trophy.. Who Wants It More… I do.. And I’ll leave everything I have on the field this weekend to make sure My Team is Victorious….  Carlos 100-99…..  Good Luck Sujal,

Cardiac Kids  –  Two quality teams but I am going with Carlos. He has worked so hard from 0-5-1 in 2007 and since then he has gone, 29-15 with two third place games and now an attempt for a NERFL Championship. But I won’t underestimate the WH Trees. 13-3 is nothing to disregard. Good Luck to both teams but the Kids are betting on the underdogs!

Last week we had a bad week !!!!

Last week our Record was 0-2-0

Which brings our Season Record to 53-37-0

And now… onto the championship game!

Week 17:
  • West Hartford Trees   -vs-   Carlos
– The West Hartford Trees have a career record of 5-4 against Carlos.
– The West Hartford Trees beat Carlos in week 1 by a score of 107-89 and in week 12 by a score of 111-106.
– Carlos and the West Hartford Trees have met in the third place game in 2007 and 2008. The WH Trees won in 2007 by a score of 88-87. Carlos won in 2008 by a score of 131-130.
Can the third time be the charm? After battling for third two years in a row, they meet in the finals. They split the last two playoff games but The Trees have won both games this season. So in their third playoff match up and in their third head-to-head contest of the year; which team will eat their Lucky Charms for breakfast on Sunday… and once again we ask, is the third time the lucky charm?

The West Hartford Trees win this game by a score of 115-113

And now… onto this week’s games!

Week 16:
  • West Hartford Trees   -vs-   Falls Church Players
– The Falls Church Players have a career record of 7-4 against the West Hartford Trees.
– The Falls Church Players beat the West Hartford Trees in week 6 by a score of 139-132.
– The Falls Church Players and the West Hartford Trees have met in the playoffs in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The FC Players won in 2004 in week 15 while the WH Trees won in 2006 in week 15. In 2007, The FC Players won the NERFL Championship against the WH Trees by a score of 63-58.
The Computer simulations do not fare well for the regular season champ. The computer likes the falls Church players in 87% of the simulations andpredicts a blowout this weekend!
The Falls Church Players win this game by a score of 139-118
————————————————————————————————————–

  • Pop’s Puppies   -vs-   Carlos

– Pop’s Puppies beat Carlos in week 4 by a score of 150-115.
– Pop’s Puppies beat Carlos in the second round of the 2007 playoffs by a score of 103-80.
If Carlos thought the contest last week was a back and forth battle until Steve Smith ran away with it; he hasn’t seen anything yet. The computer nearly blew up with each simulation as it went back and forth between both of these teams but in the end, the computer predicted Pop’s Puppies as the winner in 51 out of 100 simulations and predicted a statistical tie…
Pop’s Puppies wins this game by a score of 128-127

Five Questions

December 23, 2009 · 1 Comment

  • 1) What was the biggest surprise in the first round of the NERFL playoffs? Why?
Cardiac Kids –  I played one of my good friends this past weekend. Carlos beat us and losing to a friend who has a championship quality team makes losing a little more palatable. BUT, the biggest surpise involves a quick story. Carlos called for my opinion before the Steve Smith (carolina) trade and before he pulled the trigger on the deal, carlos said to me, “Smith will bounce back in the second half, I feel it. Somewhere down the line he will deliver a big game for me.” I was surprised when those words came back to haunt me on Sunday night. Smith delivered big, he single-handedly delivered a playoff win. I hate when words come back to haunt me by jumping up, biting me on the ass and saying, “SURPRISE!!” If I had a time machine, I’d go back in time and tell him not to make that trade!

Pop’s Puppies –  there are two… (1) the trees only scoring 105 and getting the supreme gift from santa andrew.   the macaroons had this game lost at 1 pm when he set his lineup by leaving two rb’s and no tight end.  of course you’d have to have a tight end to put one in but playing jennings [1 point] and leaving two wide outs on the bench [32 points] that would have made this week oh so memorable.  but no, the leader of the macaroons must have been wearing his “aint’s” bag over his brains.  oh well, congrats sujal for the gift that keeps on giving… (2) the doggies scoring 140 points and the nukes less than 100.  talk about role reversal, oopha

Carlos –  To be Honest with you.. The Kenosha marrons Bone head play of playing a man down.. Dude Seriously, It was a playoff game, and not a regular season game. What were you thinking. You don’t get fancy and try a a new line-up. Stick with what got you to the playoffs. Bonehead Move of the Year…

  • 2) What was the biggest shock/disappointment in the first round of the NERFL playoffs? Why?
Cardiac Kids –  The Kensha Maroons rolling over and playing Dead. Playing eight guys instead of nine when the nine he could’ve used would have won. Very disappointing. And for most baffling? I don’t for the life of me understand why the Slayers would bench Big Ben and Wallace. There is still no path to victory on his bench so it was a disappointment because the Falls Church Players showed up this week… just baffling.

Pop’s Puppies –  see question 1 no. 1… andrew can you please pay attention?

Carlos  --  Biggest Dissappointment would have to be The Dragon Slayers. He talked how great his team was, and Poof he laid a Big Goose Egg. His team stunk up the play-offs. And  its just proves that his team doesn’t have what it takes to be a Contender in Nerfl..  Rich now hopefully learned a valuable lesson this week, and he’ll keep his mouth shut and just play ball.

  • 3) Which team will win; (# 1) West Hartford Trees or the (# 7) Falls Church Players? Why?
Cardiac Kids –  I believe the edge goes to the Falls Church Players. The Trees do get lucky, like last week when the Maroons rolled over and played dead for the Trees but the Players and Trees have a long history and rivalry; this should be a great match-up but my money is on the Players!

Pop’s Puppies –  i’ve been a fan of the trees but if they put up another stinker like this week they will be toast.  so i’ll jump ship and take the players in a romp

Carlos –  The Falls Church Players will pull this one out. The Trees will make it a Valiant effort, but come up just a little short… Player 132-130

  • 4)  Which team will win; (# 5) Pop’s Puppies or (# 6) Carlos? Why?
Cardiac Kids –  This is going to be a great game. It will come down to which team wants it more and let’s be honest, who makes the right personnel calls come Thursday. But both teams made statements last week and scored big. So using last week as a basis for deciding, Carlos wins by 2 points (as in this week 142-140)… another great match-up. Good Luck to both teams.

Pop’s Puppies –  you’re kidding right.  the general would fire his dog robber [Lt. Wayward Forward Pass] if he jumped ship now. so the doggies take a very large bite out of carlos’ ample tush

Carlos –  Carlos will WIN,…This is Stop 2 , on His Vengence Tour- Payback is a BioT**. Sorry Pops, but i owe you for the early season whooping you put on my team. But I look forward to a great Match-up, and shall the Better man Win..      Carlos 121-110

  • 5) Which of the final four teams is the odds-on-favorite to win the NERFL Championship? Why?

Cardiac Kids –  I think the Championship game will come down to the Players and Carlos. Good Friend against my pain-in-the-arse brother who protested our game (just kidding). At this point both teams would deserve a win… so I hold back my prediction until next week!

Pop’s Puppies –  based upon the results of the first week of the playoffs no team has the edge.   three teams which don’t normally score “big” did so.  the one team that normally kicks ass barely broke 100 and should not have gotten out of the first round [again, thank you andrew]… so i vote for no team having a clear cut advantage and having said that i like the doggies because all of my players are fighting for either the playoffs or jobs for next year… and so it goes

Carlos –  Carlos… I’ve come close the past 2 years. This is the Year of the Carlos.. Just wait and see…

Four Questions: The Playoffs!

December 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

  • 1) Which team will win; (# 1) West Hartford Trees or the (# 8 ) Kenosha Maroons? Why?

Carlos  –  Sorry Andy, But Going with the Trees here for Only One Reason, and One reason Only… REVENGE.. Suj Knows why….   Trees 151-101

Pop’s Puppies  –  unless the trees throw up a real stinker the protest queen should look thru the rule book to see what comes to mind because the trees are deserving of the no. 1 ranking

Marty’s Schottenheimers  –  Trees (Based on raw margin of victory over me)

  • 2) Which team will win; (# 2) Dragon Slayers or the (# 7) Falls Church Players? Why?

Carlos  –  That’s Simple.. The Falls Church Players.. They are on a roll, and Rich doesn’t have the Fire Power to match-up with Paul’s Dangerous team. Ok, Rich.. Play the No Respect card here.. saying no one takes you serious….     Players  181-81

Pop’s Puppies  –  the slayers seem to have the edge but i’m not a fan [ok so they put a whoop ass beating twice on the dog bites] but i think the players may just move on.  call this my upset special

Marty’s Schottenheimers  –  Players (Based on margin of victory I had over them)

  • 3)  Which team will win; (# 3) Cardiac Kids or (# 6) Carlos? Why?

Carlos  –  Sorry, Dougy Boy… Your going to be the first victim on the “2009″ Carlos Takes Revenge Tour.. I plan on throwing everything I have at you, and will not call off the Hounds. It won’t be pretty, cause that Ain’t my style.. I’ll do whatever it takes to win this game…     Carlos   134-112

Pop’s Puppies  –  much as i would like to back my good friend carlos i don’t think he has the horses this year.

Marty’s Schottenheimers  –  Carlos (You’re my boy, blue!)

  • 4) Which team will win; (# 4) DC Nukes or (# 5) Pop’s Puppies? Why?

Carlos  –  Happy Holidays Pop’s, grab your egg nog, and a Big piece of Fruit cake. Santa’s dashing your playoff dreams early with an early exit. Eric’s Ticked Off, and I wouldn’t want to be you this week after losing The division to his Arch Enemy.                Nukes…    222-122

Pop’s Puppies  –  unfortunately for the dog bites the worst scenario occured and we have to play our choice for the finals.  having said that, the nukes did throw up the bit this past weekend so there is hope.  i’ll take the doggies because my glass [of belvedere] is always half full

Marty’s Schottenheimers  –  Pops (sorry, Eric, ain’ nuthin’ but a family thing)

Last week we had a great week !!!!

Last week our Record was 5-1-0

Which brings our Season Record to 50-34-0

And now… onto this week’s games!

Week 15:
  • Dragon Slayers   -vs-   Falls Church Players
– The Falls Church Players have a career record of 4-0 against the Dragon Slayers.
– The Falls Church Players beat the Dragon Slayers in week 8 by a score of 132-86.
– The Falls Church Players and the Dragon Slayers have never met in the playoffs.
The Dragons Slayers are 4-3 this season at home while the Falls Church Players are 3-4 on the road. Statistics that most likely mean something but yet, they still exist on the LM site. When you add this game up and throw all the numbers into the computer by a margin of 63% of the simulations, here is the outcome…

The Falls Church Players win this game by a score of 133-122
